Large gear with hydraulic power distribution

A large planetary gear with fixed mechanical transmission was supplemented by a hydrostatic drive with adjustable displacers connected in parallel. This power distribution allowed the transmission of the entire system to be continuously adjusted.

With consideration given to the load- and speed-dependent efficiency of all the components involved, numerous studies were performed of the system’s process-based power balance. Particular attention was given to the level of smoothness that could be achieved at the gear output under dynamically changeable input speeds.

The attached video illustrates how the output speed remains constant as the input speed increases. The adjustment is realised via the swivel angle of the hydraulic units.
